CHRYSLER CONCORDE...

REFINED. Of all the appropriate words that could describe Chrysler Concorde for 1996, refined may be the best. This may seem a bit surprising since Concorde--- because of its revolutionary cab-forward design---will long be known as the car that changed the architecture of the automobile and established Chrysler's reputation for design leadership. yet, refined fits. So does subtle, because it's an excellent word to portray many of Concorde's refinements. Such as the new color schemes and body-colored bumpers that combine to give it a contemporary "monochromatic" look. And the new seals and weatherstripping that work hard to help make Concorde's interior even more quiet. Considering the fact that, for the first time, Concorde is available in two models---the Luxurious LXi, and the more affordable LX--another excellent word for describing this newly refined Chrysler is choice. but once you see all that Concorde for 1996 has to offer, you'll have a few special words of your own.

SAFETY THAT'S SMART....

The ability to stop quickly while maintaining steering control can save lives in threatening situations. Concorde's four-wheel disc antilock brake system gives drivers that kind of control by automatically "pumping" the brakes several times per second to prevent lockup in an emergency stop. Optional Traction Control helps prevent the driving (front) wheels from spinning during acceleration on wet or slippery surfaces at speeds up to 25 mph. An automatic day/night electrochromic mirror is also available with Concorde. The reflection of a following car's headlights is automatically dimmed when an intergral photocell in this mirror triggers a circuit that darkens the mirror surface to minimize reflected glare. The surface returns to normal when the glare is eliminated. Concorde's Integrated Child Safety Seat (available only with Quartz cloth interior) accommodates children from 20 to 66 pounds. The seat folds down from the middle of the rear seat--a position that minimizeds the effects of side-impact accidents--and is equipped with a five-point belt system. To protect occupants in a side-impact collision, Concorde's front and rear doors contain ultra-high-strength steel beams to help absorb energy generated by the impact. This safety system meets all 1997 federal dynamic side-impact requirements.
A sensor system is the key to deploying Concorde's standard air bags at frontal barrier impact speeds of 14 mph or more.
