The Changing New World Of Video Poker
September 4, 1992 * The Card Player
If you like to play video poker, but always pick the wrong card to hold,
Sam's Town in Las Vegas has the machine for you -- One At A Time Draw
Poker.
As one player put it while being interviewed on NBC-TV by gaming reporter
Scott Andrus, "I just put in a couple quarters and then I said, Whoa! This is
a different game!" In fact, it is so different, a patent has been granted. As
another player said, "Even when I picked the wrong card, other winning
possibilities popped up and I still won!"
Yes, this draw poker video poker game is dramatically different. It is
One At A Time video poker, a Cardco Series
game, manufactured by J & T Inc. in Las Vegas.
Skilled poker players, in particular, may enjoy One At A Time. They are
challenged to build the best possible hand, but on a video screen. The
name describes the game for a player: The player is able to discard
"one card at a time" instead of "all at once." This gives the player
more "control" and makes the game more dynamic.
One At A Time video is easy to play since the player one has to pick
and discard the worst card on the screen. For a winning strategy, the
player continues to discard (one at a time) until feels it is the best
possible hand, or until all five cards have been discarded.
Besides giving many more straights, flushes, and full houses, the graphics
in the game are dramatically different. There are hand symbols displayed
above the cards to help the player make the best choice. This game can be
undersood by more people, played by more people, and brings more excitement
to the player.
This exciting Cardco Series video poker game is the result of the combined
vision of the Bridgeman family from Huntington Beach, California. The
family's unique videos caught the eye of manufacturer, J & T Inc.,
and Gamma International Ltd., a leading gaming innovator. Gamma International
Ltd. has assumed a leadership role in distributing this newest phenomenon
in video poker machines to gaming markets outside of Nevada and overseas.

TEXAS HOLD'EM AT BINION's HORSESHOE
Five famous poker players gathered to play Texas Hold'Em. The pace
was fast and furious. They played day and night for 60 hours straight - each
trying their own winning strategy. This did not take place at a poker
table. It was a showdown against a stand alone Cardco Series Texas
hold'em video poker slot machine! And what a showdown it was!
This Texas Hold'Em machine was manufactured by J & T Inc. of
Las Vegas has captured the mystique of playing "real poker.". But all
kinds of players (not all famous) can compete against this version.
So many "players" stepped up to try their skill at playing this Texas
Hold'Em machine at Binion's Horseshoe, that a new game was played every
19 seconds, 24 hours a day, day after day, week after week, for two
two solid months. The players were literally glued to their
chairs. They could not leave their seats to go get change. If they
did, their seat would be taken by the time they got back. Even friends
would not loan quarters to their buddies, to get their chance at the
machine.
